Diagnosis in urology
Correct diagnosis is half the success on the patient's path to recovery. A urologist deals with the diagnosis of diseases of the genitourinary system. At the first appointment, the specialist collects an anamnesis, conducts an initial examination, palpation and, if necessary, percussion of the organs of the retroperitoneal space, pelvis, and external genitalia.
Embarrassment and the delicacy of the problem should not prevent you from telling the urologist about your health problems in detail. This will allow the doctor to make a general picture of the disease, make a preliminary diagnosis and prescribe the necessary laboratory and instrumental examinations to confirm it.
Endoscopic studies
Endoscopic research methods allow the urologist to visually, with his own eyes, see the condition of the organs of the genitourinary system from the inside, and under multiple magnifications. The essence of these methods is that a thin, flexible tube with a light source and an optical system at the end is inserted into the patient's hollow organ under investigation (for example, the bladder). Information about the condition of the organ being examined is displayed on the monitor in video format, in real time. The doctor literally "watches on TV" what is happening inside the patient, he can reveal signs of inflammation, defects of the mucous membrane or diverticula of the wall, neoplasms, calculi or other changes.
The main methods of endoscopic diagnosis in urology are:
- cystoscopy;
- urethroscopy.
Sometimes cystoscopy is performed using a special indigo carmine dye. This method of diagnosis in urology is called "chromocystoscopy". It allows you to follow the process of urination and to draw a conclusion about urinary tract dysfunction on one side.

A biopsy may also be performed during the endoscopy - a piece of pathological tissue is taken for further examination in the laboratory. In addition, biopsy of some organs (prostate gland, testicle) is performed under ultrasound control.
At the same time, catheterization and ablation can be used for diagnosis and treatment in urology, which allow to determine the presence of stones, areas of narrowing in the urethra or to restore the outflow of urine from the bladder in case of acute retention.
You can undergo any of the methods of diagnosing urological diseases. We use only high-quality reagents, modern equipment, thanks to which our patients receive a reliable examination result in a short time. Contact us and see for yourself!
Diagnosis in urology
Ultrasound diagnostics in urology. Ultrasound examinations are widely used to diagnose diseases of the genitourinary system. Our specialists conduct:
- Ultrasound of the pelvic organs (bladder with determination of residual urine, genitals);
- Ultrasound of the prostate gland;
- Ultrasound of the organs of the abdominal cavity and retroperitoneal space;
- Ultrasound of the penis and scrotal organs.
Ultrasound examinations are absolutely safe and allow to quickly diagnose urolithiasis, tumor diseases of the kidneys, bladder, prostate gland, stones in the urinary bladder, acute or chronic pyelonephritis, prostate adenoma and other diseases.
Laboratory diagnostics in urology
Laboratory methods of research help the doctor to make a complete clinical picture of the disease. The following analyzes are the most informative:
- clinical blood analysis;
- biochemical blood analysis (creatinine, urea);
- blood test for sexually transmitted infections;
- urine tests - general, according to Nechiporenko, according to Zimnytskyi;
- bacteriological culture of urine, secretions from the genital tract;
- spermogram;
- cytological, histological examination of pathological tissues taken by biopsy.
