Methods of allergy prevention

Allergy is an inadequate immunological reaction of the human body to contact with foreign substances - allergens. The prevalence of allergic diseases in the world is very high.

Rapid technological progress is accompanied by the appearance of an increasing number of new synthetic chemical compounds that are used by humans to improve the quality of life, in everyday life and in modern production. For convenience and comfort, a person pays for the deterioration of health.

According to statistics, the number of people suffering from allergic reactions is increasing every year, and children are getting sick more often. The appearance of allergies is purely individual in nature, while the hereditary factor plays an important role.

The symptoms of an allergic reaction can be very diverse and show varying degrees of severity. Rashes on the skin, lacrimation, runny nose and bronchial asthma, an acute reaction of the body in the form of anaphylactic shock can have the same nature - a pathological response of the immune system to contact with a specific allergen. The efforts of modern medicine are aimed not only at providing assistance to a person with an allergic reaction, but also at measures to prevent the occurrence of allergies.

The goal of allergy prevention
Measures are divided into primary, secondary and tertiary, which have different goals.

Primary prevention involves a number of measures taken by expectant parents. In case of unfavorable hereditary anamnesis, even before the onset of pregnancy, measures are taken to reduce the risk of allergic reactions in the future baby: the mother's diet is adjusted, contact with possible allergens is excluded as much as possible.

Secondary is designed to prevent deterioration of the condition of the already born child who has allergic reactions. A small diathesis should not develop into atopic dermatitis, and in the future - bronchial asthma. At this stage, the child's diet and contact with the adverse external environment are also monitored.

In the case of an illness that has already occurred and developed, tertiary prevention of allergic diseases is used. Its purpose is to prevent and reduce the frequency of repeated relapses, shortening their duration.

In what cases is allergy prevention indicated?
Manifestations of an allergic reaction can be as follows:

  • Skin rashes, which are often itchy, can occur when an allergen is taken internally with food or in the form of a medicine, as well as during direct contact with an unwanted substance.
  • Pollinosis - lacrimation, inflammation of the eyes, runny nose, nasal congestion - most often it occurs as a reaction to the pollen of flowering plants, animal fur.
  • Cough, obstruction of the upper respiratory tract, up to serious asthmatic attacks - the result of contact with an unfavorable external environment.
  • Acute local and general body reactions.
  • Dermatoses and other manifestations.

You should pay attention to symptoms that periodically repeat, in order to seek help from a specialist in time to determine its cause. Self-medication is unacceptable here, only a doctor can determine the cause of such reactions and prescribe preventive measures.

Results of allergy prevention

In order for preventive measures to be effective, the patient must first of all know which allergens cause him an unwanted reaction, and skillfully avoid contact with them.

Proper nutrition, a sufficient amount of vitamins, minerals and trace elements necessary for normal life, a healthy lifestyle, rejection of bad habits, moderate physical activity - all these are preventive recommendations for a person suffering from allergic reactions.

Regular consultations of an allergist specialist will allow the patient to treat his illness competently. Correctly aware behavior in relation to the individual characteristics of one's own body will ensure a good quality of life for every "allergic person".
